Every CallerTracer result is assembled from several independent layers. No single database knows everything about a phone number, so we show each field with its source category and the date it was last verified and let you judge it. This page explains what sits behind each field.
| Field | Source category | Refresh | Reliability |
|---|---|---|---|
| Line type (mobile, landline, VoIP, toll-free) | Live carrier records via telecom lookup providers | Daily, on demand | High. Comes from the carrier that currently serves the number. |
| Carrier | Live carrier records, including number-portability data | Daily, on demand | High. Ported numbers show the current carrier, not the original one. |
| Country, region, city, time zone | Public numbering-plan records (country codes, North American area codes and prefixes) | Monthly | High for country and region. City reflects where the number was issued, not where the phone is now. |
| Caller name (CNAM) | Carrier caller-ID databases | Every 30 days | Medium. Mostly covers US landlines and businesses. Many mobile numbers have no published name. |
| Risk level and labels | Fraud-scoring providers plus reports from CallerTracer users | Weekly, plus every new report | Medium. Strong for repeat offenders; a new number may have no history yet. |
| Community reports | Submitted by CallerTracer users | Real time | Depends on volume. Reports are moderated and weighted by account trust. |
| Owner Report (name, age range, addresses, associated contacts) | Licensed identity-data providers | Per request, cached up to 90 days | Medium. Records can lag when people move or change numbers. Only retrieved when a user unlocks a report. |
Each field carries one of three states:
We cache number data so that repeated searches do not trigger repeated provider requests. Cached fields expire on a schedule that depends on how quickly the underlying data changes: carrier and line type after 90 days, caller name after 30 days, risk after 7 days. Any field can be refreshed sooner when a new report arrives or a user re-runs the lookup after the cache expires.
Owner Report data about a number can be excluded on request. See Remove My Info. Carrier, line type and area code data describe the number itself and remain available.
